August 2016 Dividend/Passive Income

I realized I haven’t looked at my PG drip in a little bit and had to go re-work the numbers — so I crossed the $100/mo in passive income in May!  With some effort (but less than I would have thought) I have passed $100/mo!  Crazy!  Now to get every month up over $100.  Or reach $150/mo for the first time.  I can start to see how the dividends roll the snowball along.  If you are thinking of doing this — do it!  It’s so fun to see!  My Aug 2015 was $54.00 and my Aug 2016 is $124.24 — more than doubled.

April 2016 Dividend/Passive Income

I have been so lax about keeping up with this and I’m so mad at myself!  So I’m getting back to it.  That’s all you can do when you fall down is to pick yourself up and dust yourself off and get back to it.  That’s life, right?

March 2016 Dividend/Passive Income

I started tracking my dividend/passive income back in May of 2015 — which means this is the first time I’ve seen a Q1 total.  I’m anxious to compare my numbers to last year’s numbers but I won’t be able to do that for a couple months still.  So that’s something for me to look forward to.  Here is the breakdown for March:

February 2016 Dividend/Passive Income

I saw a post today which showed a fellow DGI’er’s Feb dividend income and it was near $750.  All I could think was $750!!!!!!!!!!!!  How amazing is that!!  There was a comment from someone who just doesn’t get why this is a big deal.  To me, any amount of money, that I get OVER & OVER, from doing NOTHING, other than purchasing a piece of a company some time ago, is fantastic. Sadly, my Feb div income is no where near $750 but mine is creeping up.  I am starting to see the snowball roll.  I also heard a good analogy to what we (DGI’ers) are trying to do.  We are buying chickens who lay eggs.  And later down the road we will live off those eggs, without killing our chickens.  Now think for a moment about what if the eggs weren’t enough to live off of.  I’m still ok with that. I’m still ok with a lump of money coming to me each month.  Maybe it’s enough to buy a………..ahem….cup of coffee, or a tank of gas, (which are where some of my months are right now), but maybe it’s enough to pay a condo fee, maybe it’s enough to take a trip, do something really nice for someone, pay a car payment (if you have one — hopefully not)….something like that — without having to dip into anything else you have.  This is just money on top.  I am loving this concept.  So yes, I do think $750 is a big deal.  I think $90.33 is a big deal!  Which is what mine was this month.  And I’m continuing to buy chickens.  In Feb I added to my portfolio –>  12 HCP, 2 ORI, 6 PFE, & 12 FLO.  Here is the breakdown of my Feb income:

CAPL       $2.37

COST       $.80

CVS         $4.68

EPD         $.78

HCP        $28.75

KMI        $.25

PAA        $.70

PG          $23.93

T            $23.04

P2P Lending     $5.03

TOTAL:   $90.33

January 2016 Dividend/Passive Income

So this starts my first full calendar year of tracking passive income — I’m excited to see what the year brings.  I would love to see the market tick up but I can’t say that I’m not loving the “sale” that we’re having currently.  As the prices go lower, I am able to buy more shares which in turn will pay me more dividends.  What’s not to like!

Here are my totals for January 2016 (kinda sad this month — but seriously, if I’m at the point where my passive income is ~ $10/mo then imagine what you could do!!!)

NCT             $1.80

SPY             $2.42

MDY            $1.00

NAUH          $.36

P2P              $4.56

Total:           $10.14

December 2015 Dividend/Passive Income

December 2015 Passive Income

So here it is the end of the first year I am keeping track of the passive income numbers.  Looking back I have to say this is a frustrating process — one of my biggest flaws is that my patience level is…………I’m gonna use the word LOW.  To watch this SLOWLY build up is painful.  However, if I didn’t start doing this, then I wouldn’t have anything and here I have seen a month that hit over $75 of passive income — so I feel like it’s at least starting to grow.

My other big accomplishment is that we maxed out our Roth’s for 2015.  This feels really grown up and really good.  We maxed it out last year for the first time but had to take advantage of the fact that you’re allowed to contribute up to tax day of the next year.  We don’t have to do that this year.  Every penny in 2016 will go to 2016.  We are on pace to max it out in June, which obviously frees up that amount of money each month to buy more shares of dividend stocks that will produce more passive income for us.  I’m looking forward to that.

Other big goals we have are to put $25,000 into our savings acct because I’m going to need to buy a “new” car soon and I’m refuse to go back to car payments.  Another goal is to start a Vanguard acct which as you probably know takes $3000 to open.  We are currently saving for that.  We are partly using an app called Digit.co if you haven’t heard of it.  It squirrels out tiny bits of money from your acct into a holding acct that builds up.  That’s been incredible so far — you don’t even notice it’s coming out which is nice because you don’t miss it!  I’m thinking it would be good for a vacation fund or something like that.

So overall it’s been a good year for money!  I wish you happy investing in 2016!  Any goals for 2016 you’d like to share?

So here come the numbers — here are the totals for my December 2015 Passive Income:
